A review of 2023
Commit to a healthier tomorrow with Mediplus
As we conclude another successful year at Mediplus, it is my privilege to share some of the highlights from 2023.
As always, we remain dedicated to staying at the forefront of the ever-changing healthcare landscape. To better serve you, our valued members, our Client Relations team has travelled more than 20,000 kilometres, visiting all 10 provinces in the past 11 months and conducting over 200 onsite visits to our corporate employer groups. This year, Mediplus has been more visible than ever before in our entire history, making significant strides toward client services.
In line with our commitment to our core values, we prioritized staff training. We appointed and trained 16 new employees, conducted in-house skill development for 12 existing staff members, and sent 19 of our team members for external training. These initiatives have significantly contributed to their professional growth.
On the technology front, our IT team implemented substantial improvements to our portals, electronic claims submission, and claims tracking. We streamlined the Health Booster, providing our members easy access to important additional benefits for the early detection of some of the most prevalent conditions. Real-time EXCO statistics empower our team to make informed decisions, strategically plan, and manage risks effectively based on patient and financial data, benefiting all stakeholders.
To enhance our communication channels, we made significant improvements to our online presence and bulk communications. Our redesigned website now provides a more user-friendly and streamlined experience for all visitors, facilitating easier access to information, services, and resources. This, in turn, enables you to effortlessly manage your Mediplus profile.
Despite challenges, such as the implementation of the additional 5% EVA on medical services, absorbed by Mediplus without interim membership fee increases, we continue to prioritize your well-being.
We appreciate all your support during our 3rd and biggest Mediplus Annual Cycling Event on June 25, 2023, at Casino Polana, where almost 150 cyclists attended. This event promotes a healthy lifestyle and encourages physical activity among our members. Look out for announcements of the 4th event in 2024 which promise to be even better and bigger!
Please utilize our anonymous fraud communication channels to report any fraudulent activities and help us in our fight against fraud.
Looking forward to 2024, we aim to strengthen the Mediplus brand with new strategies and innovative solutions that meet the evolving needs of our members. We are launching a comprehensive fraud prevention campaign because fraud impacts all of us—our members, our risk pools, and the industry as a whole.
Additionally, we are implementing stricter regulations in our healthcare management system to enhance our on-boarding processes, benefit confirmations, and pre-authorizations. These measures will enable us to better manage high-risk and chronic conditions, ultimately safeguarding the interests of our members.
As we reflect on the year gone by, we realise that none of the achievements and progress we’ve made would have been possible without the support of you, our valued members, and our dedicated staff members. Your choice to be a part of the Mediplus family plays an essential role in making us the biggest and most renowned healthcare provider in Mozambique.
